CNC cutting in panel projects is not just sending dimensions to a machine. For compact laminate, plywood laminate panel or MDF laminate panel, dimensions, holes, fixings, edges, face direction and installation sequence should be planned together.
Information needed before CNC
- Final part dimensions and tolerance
- Material type, thickness and face direction
- Hole diameter, centre and edge distance
- Hinge, lock, leg or fixing plate information
- Chamfer, radius, groove or custom shape detail
- Quantity, part code and installation orientation
Material-specific notes
Compact laminate is dense and hard; tooling and hole planning matter. Plywood has a layered edge that should be considered visually. MDF laminate needs attention to surface tear-out, edge banding and moisture risk around open holes.
Production checklist
- Are drawing and part list on the same revision?
- Are dimensions final, or is site measurement pending?
- Is material thickness correctly shown?
- Are hole and groove depths defined?
- Is visible face direction clear?
- Is a prototype needed before production?
